You didn’t mention that you can purchase a ferry ticket to get away from the crowds and go to placencia. They have amazing All inclusive resorts there for cruisers

Admittedly, I didn’t snorkel, but I don’t believe there is a reef there. If there is an excursion offered, then they may take you somewhere a bit more interesting.

As for the ruins, I’d suggest doing something from Cozumel or Costa Maya. There are ruins all over the Yucatan, but the major sites (Tulum, Chichen Itza) are closer to those ports. I have visited Altun Ha in Belize on an excursion from Belize City. It was very impressive.

You didn’t mention the Blue Morpho Butterfly Sanctuary. Is there an entrance fee and is it worth it?

We didn’t see those during our trip, just things like kayaks and paddleboards. I also don’t see them listed on the excursions shown on Norwegian’s website.
