We know Mobile isn’t going to become a tourist mecca anytime soon. But the city does offer some interesting places to visit, full of history, fun, and some great Southern cuisine.

Moe’s Original Bar B Que
Named one of the Top 10 BBQ Chains in America by USAToday, Moe’s was started by three local University of Alabama grads. So while some people might be scared of chain restaurants, this place has real roots in the area. Pulled port, ribs, wings — even Shimp Po-boys — it’s all here. The Blind Mule
Great for those with varied tastes, The Blind Mule offers a variety of dishes from salads to seafood to burgers/sandwiches, and even brunch. Spot of Tea
Spot of Tea is the ideal place for a lunch or hearty breakfast before your cruise. They aren’t open after 3 p.m. This place does breakfast right, with the Bananas Foster French Toast sounding amazing. We’re also interested in their lunch lineup, which includes a Blackened Monterey Chicken Sandwich that we’d love to try. Want something lighter? No problem. Noja
If you’re looking for fine downtown dining, then Noja is great place and perfect for special occasions. Steaks and seafood are the mainstays of Noja, all capped off with a great Southern atmosphere. Mediterranean Sandwich Company
Just want a quick and easy bite to eat before or after your trip? Mediterranean Sandwich Company can fill you up for just a few bucks without the sit-down wait of other places. As you would expect, this place offers up tasty Greek dishes so come hungry for wraps, gyros, falafel and more. Mama’s on Dauphin
Vegetarian? Vegan? Gluten-free? No way. Mama’s makes no bones about being down-home Southern cooking that you would expect to find in a historic city like Mobile. The Royal Scam
The Royal Scam has one of the most interesting names of any restaurant in Mobile, and one of the most interesting combinations of food and atmosphere. While the restaurant is definitely casual, the food could be considered fine dining. Grilled duck, seared tuna wraps, and Chicken Bienville (grilled chicken breast with tomatoes, capers, bacon, white wine and spinach) all make the menu. The Trellis Room
The Trellis Room is Mobile’s only AAA Four Diamond restaurant. Set in the historic Battle House Renaissance hotel, the atmosphere is impeccable. You’ll definitely want to dress up a little to keep from feeling out of place. The breakfast buffet is a big hit, but dinner’s unique dishes like Rabbit Pot Pie will be what keeps you talking.
