Drink packages are worth it for a repositioning or transatlantic cruise when you are at sea a lot. A port intensive cruise is not worth purchasing the drink package due to the fact you will be ashore a lot and probably exhausted when you get back to the ship. Not worth it cruise ship transfers. Get a Uber and split the cost with another cruiser. Inside cabins are great for a repositioning cruise since there is not a lot to see, but you can go topside and hang out with a DRINK PACKAGE! Worth it or not- Newer ships: That depends on what type of cruiser you are. We don’t love crowds and at 70+ are not into rock climbing or go karts. So the smaller older ships suit us just fine, plus they are usually less expensive. Want to avoid a lot of kids on board? Sail when school is in session and on longer cruises. The rest of your advice, Tanner is spot on.

We are taking a Carnival cruise from New Orleans to Cozumel. On my father’s birth certificate his name is spelled Donal and his driver license is spelled Donald. His cruise ticket has Donald. Will this be a problem boarding the ship? If so, what do you recommend.

My wife and I applied for our first time passports earlier this year in anticipation of a trip in 2025. We didn’t need or pay for any expedited processing. Received our passports in exactly 3 weeks!
Not sure if this was a fluke and I certainly wouldn’t plan on one arriving that soon, but it was a pleasant surprise for us.

In reply to Tina G. Not wine glasses, but there are glasses in your cabin. You could also order a glass of wine, take it with you and then reuse the glass. If you drink it in the dining room you will pay a corkage fee, but you should be able to get a wine glass.
