When it comes to cruising, no place is more iconic than sailing from Miami, the cruise capital of the world. But the city isn’t just a place to get on the ship. It’s one of the most famous, lively, and exciting cities in the world. If you aren’t staying a night before your cruise, then you’re doing yourself a disservice.
Of course, not only is Miami a great place to experience, but staying in town the night before your cruise is a smart move. Between airport delays and the stress of driving in on the day of your cruise, arriving the day before ensures that you don’t miss your ship.
With that mind, you have literally hundreds of hotel options within a short distance of the cruise port. To narrow things down, we’ve filtered through Miami hotels to find those that are highly ranked and also near the cruise port. That makes for a nice stay and makes it easy to get to the ship on cruise day.

YVE Hotel
The absolute closest hotel on our list is one that’s technically close enough that you could walk from the hotel to your ship. (Given the area is not very pedestrian friendly to the port, walking is possible, but likely not the best idea.) The hotel describes itself as “Bohemian, Eclectic, and Stylish” — we’d say it’s just classic Miami with fun, cool colors and modern style. When it’s time to get to the ship, you can walk across the street to the Coral Way Trolley to get across the causeway to the cruise terminals.

There’s a lot to do right nearby, including being within walking distance of Bayfront Park, tons of restaurants, and the MetroMover, which can take you practically anywhere in downtown Miami. In short, if you want a large hotel with a brand name you know and trust, this might be the perfect fit.

Eurostars Langford
This hotel is one of the more unique in Miami, sitting inside the former Miami National Bank building (constructed in 1925) in downtown. Today it’s a cool mix of historic feel but modern style, including the herringbone pattern flooring in rooms. If traditional, bland hotels aren’t your thing, then this is the hotel to look into. Maybe that’s why it’s one of the highest-ranking cruise hotels in Miami. As well, it’s close to the cruise port meaning you can have a stylish stay but also be convenient to the terminal.

Hotel Indigo
Hotel Indigo is a nationwide chain of boutique hotels, numbering about 150 across the United States. They are known for being more unique and styled — more like part of the community than a traditional cookie-cutter location. This edition is located in Brickell, about three miles from the port and in an upscale area. You get all the Miami atmosphere you could want, including a pool, lush green outdoor patio, and in the heart of the bustling downtown region. When it’s time to go to the ship, you’re close to the Coral Way Trolley (which takes you to the port area for free) or you can grab an Uber.

Aloft Miami Brickell
Sitting back-to-back with Hotel Indigo is another Miami cruise port hotel that gets high marks: Aloft Miami Brickell. Best of all, this spot near the port can be relatively cheap. We found rates as low as $125 a night despite it being only blocks from high-end names like Mandarin Oriental. From here you can walk to a number of hotspots like the Brickell City Center (a shopping area with stores, restaurants, entertainment and more). So you can have a night on the town before starting the cruise portion of your vacation.
